Happy Valentine’s Day to you! I thought I’d share some of my favorite fictional power couples on this day of love. So without further ado, here are my favorite couples:
RON WEASLEY AND HERMIONE GRANGER The Harry Potter Series: Jealousy, betrayal, & love potions…. Oh My! That’s the best kind of teen romance for you! While they didn’t officially become a couple until Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows their love/hate relationship sparked speculation of a Happily Ever After in their future starting with the Goblet of Fire.
ARAGORN AND ARWEN The Lord of the Rings: Arwen, the ethereal elf maiden of Rivendell, and Aragorn, the rough Ranger from the North… Odd couple? NEVER! Turning her back on an immortal life ”I would rather share one lifetime with you than face all the ages of this world alone.” (That line gets me every time!) Who can blame her?
ELIZABETH BENNET AND FITZWILLIAM DARCY Pride and Prejudice: Doesn’t every woman wish they were Miss Bennet & want a man like Mr. Darcy? These lovers are Cinderella and Prince Charming times a thousand!
CATHERINE AND HEATHCLIFF Wuthering Heights: The howling moors could not drown out the love of childhood sweethearts Catherine and Heathcliff, who manage to continue a paranormal affair even after Catherine’s death. Bronte’s bittersweet story affirms that sometimes love can survive death.
NORA GREY AND PATCH CIPRIANO Hush, Hush: Nora Grey, finds her life in danger when she becomes involved with a mysterious new student at her school named Patch, who is revealed to be a fallen angel with a dark connection to Nora herself. There is plenty of steam and angst with this couple that keeps me coming back for more! Don’t we all wish we had a Patch?!
BELLA SWAN AND EDWARD CULLEN The Twilight Saga: This epic couple imbues feelings in all of us, whether hearing their name makes you swoon or gag; it’s epic all the same. I for one have and always will love Edward and Bella and their endless love for one another. “Before you Bella, my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were stars points of light and reason and then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire; there was brilliancy there was beauty. When you were gone, when the meteor had fallen over the horizon, everything went black. Nothing had changed, but my eyes were blinded by the light. I couldn’t see the stars anymore. And there was no reason for anything.” Sigh!
KATNISS EVERDEEN AND PEETA MELARK The Hunger Games: “You love me. Real or not real?” I tell him, “Real.” This dystopian book series, soon to hit the big screen is the one book in recent years that continues to haunt me and cause so many mixed emotions. Suzanne Collins created Star crossed lovers, who didn’t have it easy at all… and left you with a lot of questions and wishing for a happily ever after….. That may or may not have ever come to fruition. I cannot wait for the movie, and for this Teaser Tuesday, I leave you with the debut music video that conveys the beautifully haunting theme of the book and movie!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
